Services not provided by the Village Post Office Motor Vehicle Licences – these are handled at Shrivenham Post Office (32 The High Street). Driving Licences – these are dealt with at Unit B, Plaza 21, Sandford Street, Swindon. Find out more here. Passports – there is now a requirement for every adult who has never before held a UK passport in their own name to be interviewed. Find out more and apply for a passport on-line here. The Post Office Network Change Programme In December 2006 the Government initiated a 12 week national public consultation on a range of proposed measures to modernise and reshape the Post Office Network and put it on a more stable footing. Further details of this consultation and the Government response to the findings are available here. In essence, the Government will provide £1.7b to 2011 to support the necessary changes. Post Office Ltd are currently drawing up area plans for closures and other changes in service provision. Nationally there will be about 50-60 area plans based predominantly on groupings of parliamentary constituencies. Individual area plans will then be subject to a 6 week consultation period. Find out more about the process here. Proposals for Post Office closures affecting Gloucestershire & Oxfordshire were made public on 5 February 2008. It has been agreed that Ashbury Post Office will remain in the Network.
